What do you enjoy most about teaching?
I enjoy working with the students as they build their knowledge in chemistry starting with the very basic ideas and progressing to the more complex concepts. I also enjoy watching them develop their study skills and become more inquisitive, confident, and independent learners.
What is the number one characteristic you look for in a college student?
Being a college student requires dedication, perseverance, and punctuality. At college, studying is mainly self-driven. Proactive students ask questions and participate in class. I continuously encourage my students to devote enough time and effort at acquiring knowledge. However, I also make sure to move from mere acquisition of knowledge to the competencies required for learners in the 21st century, be it creativity, involvement in the community and continuous pursuit of opportunities for growth. I also advocate for finding a reasonable balance between studying and working, while making the time to enjoy hobbies as well as dedicate time for friends and family.
What hobbies do you enjoy away from the classroom?
I enjoy jogging, reading, swimming, and spending time outdoors with my children.
