Graduates of the MRI Technologist Certificate Program are eligible to sit for the ARRT-MRI (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists – Magnetic Resonance Imaging) postprimary certification exam or the ARMRIT (American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists) exam. Medical assistants, radiologic technologists, and other healthcare professionals can advance their careers through MRI specialization.
While Illinois doesn’t require state licensure for MRI technologists, national certification is typically required for employment. Earning your certification demonstrates your competency in MRI safety protocols, imaging procedures, and patient care in clinical diagnostic settings.

Applicants may be asked to complete certain foundational coursework (such as Anatomy & Physiology or Medical Terminology), along with standard healthcare program requirements like CPR certification, vaccinations, health insurance, and a background check.
