Career Assistance For Your Future

At Northwest Suburban College, we are dedicated to your career success. Throughout your time here, and even after completion of your program, you will have access to many different career services to assist you in the transition from training to the workplace.

Job-Seeking Skills

Support at Northwest Suburban College reaches outside of the classroom. On top of professional career training, you will also be provided with career placement services.

By contacting your advisor or the Career Services Department, you can get one-on-one career counseling, job-search support, and references to NWSC’s large network of professionals in the fields. You can also get practical job-seeking skills and resources that you can use immediately upon graduation, including proper resume and cover letter techniques, interviewing strategies, as well as information on job/career fairs.

Real-World Career Training

Most of the programs at Northwest Suburban College have an externship component, which is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field. The externship experience will prepare you by allowing you to use the skills you’ve learned in your training in a real, on-site environment.

Our program instructors and placement staff will work with you to determine career interests and where your skills and abilities may be best utilized during externship, to make sure you have the perfect fit.

Are you unemployed or underfunded?  We may have a solution for you.

Northwest Suburban College is partnered with the Business Careers Services and Illinois work Net through the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration. Students can visit the website using the link below, which will then direct you on how to apply:  https://chicookworks.org/our-network/find-your-agency/

Students who are interested in participating in our Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Program should send an inquiry email to contact@bcsillinois.org. You will receive a survey to fill out, and upon completion, will be forwarded to NWSC for next steps, including orientation.

These programs through the state provide up to $8,000.00 in funds for qualified individuals to attend any of our programs at NWSC.
